[A must-read for wind power generation companies! Trends in wind observation]
Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Relatec Co., Ltd. will be holding an online seminar titled "Technical challenges in wind condition observation for wind power generation and prospects for practical application."
Wind power is one of the indispensable and promising sources of energy for ensuring the realization of carbon neutrality in Japan, and promoting its introduction and improving its economic viability are important issues.
Onshore wind power generation is a type of power generation that requires stable winds and is unlikely to cause problems for the natural environment or scenery. However, as the number of locations where wind turbines can be installed is limited, wind observations are becoming more common in areas without electricity, such as deep in the mountains, and as a result, the demand for fuel cells is also increasing. Offshore wind power generation can take advantage of Japan's location surrounded by the sea, with the sixth largest exclusive economic zone in the world, and is expected to be introduced on a large scale.
In this seminar, we will first explain wind observations in complex terrain on land, and then use a video of ZX Lidars/Meteodyn to explain fuel cells and lidar equipment that can be used in areas without electricity, as well as methods for correcting the observation values.
Regarding offshore wind power generation, we will explain observation methods using LIDAR equipment based on the "NEDO Offshore Wind Condition Observation Guidebook."
In addition, Windpal Corporation, a pioneer in the offshore wind industry, will be on stage as a guest speaker to introduce EOLOS' floating lidar, which measures offshore wind conditions.
At the end of the seminar, there will be a Q&A session with each speaker, in which we will be happy to answer any questions participants may have related to the seminar.
