Know the current power generation in Europe (Part 2)

"Windeurope Technology Workshop 2021" Participation Report

A workshop "" "Workshop" is a hot discussion of European wind power generation and the most advanced technology.Windeurope Technology Workshop 2021" What kind of topics were being discussed, and what are the Japanese issues compared to Europe? This is the second part of the report of Lela Tech members who participated in the workshop.(Click here for the first part)

Large -scale wind farm issues

SeeingIn this workshop, there were a lot of topics on wake and blockage. About half of the participating rooms focused on these two topics. I've been studying wake for about 10 years, but the blockage is a recent topic.

Wake

At the time of power generation, the flow of air on the windmill of the windmill. Compared to the front of the windmill, the wind speed is generally low and the wind is strong.
Blockage A phenomenon in which the wind speed on the upstream side of the windmill during power is reduced. It has been revealed that the offshore wind farm is larger than the total effect of a single windmill.

In Europe, it has been reported that building large -scale wind farms in the sea reduces wind speed due to a blockage, and falls below the expected amount of power generation of the expected Windfarm.

As a result, the way to model the wake and blockage with accurate and discuss and discuss how to simulate.

HaseWhen I participated in the conference four or five years ago, it was at the stage of reporting that there was a blockage phenomenon. This time, research was progressing to predictive simulation and its accuracy verification, and I was impressed. Perhaps it will be a field that will be studying more and more.

――It's only because a large -scale wind farm is practical.

HaseIn Japan, there are not many research on offshore windmills, so there are not many research. Research assuming Wind Farm has begun in Japan, but it is not clear that there is no windmill machine to verify the accuracy of the prediction result by simulation. I think Japan is still in the future.

Observe the wind speed accurately with a nacell rider

――Are there any other impressive announcements?

HaseIt is a research presentation that conducted a culture survey using a nacell rider. Nacell Rider is a small rider that can be observed on a windmill nasel (equipment that stores the top generators at the top of the tower, a control device, etc.).

Nacelled rider
Nacel is a horizontally long tubular part that supports the rotation of the blade on the windmill tower. It is also called a rider equipped with a nacel, and is a small observation rider that can be installed on a nacel.

In the presentation, the nassell rider used a nasel rider to measure the straight direction of the windmill and the front wind speed of the windmill. Before building a windmill, it is necessary to check such a measurement to verify whether a windmill can demonstrate the expected power generation performance.

Until now, the measurement was performed with the wind speedometer installed in the windmill. However, the wind that can be observed there is not the right value due to the influence of the turning blade.

If you are a nacelid rider, you can fly a beam in front of the blade and catch the wind in front of the windmill. Such an observation method can measure a more accurate style that is actually close.

Nacell Rider has rarely introduced in Japan, but in Lela Tech, I wanted to try the effect soon. In that sense, the presentation of Nacell Rider's research was very helpful.

The task of the Japanese market with few actual data on the offshore style

――What are the Japanese issues you saw this time?

Inner mountainParticipating in the workshop this time, I realized again the difference in the maturity of the market in offshore wind power. If practical use is progressing more and more like Europe, both actual data and experience are accumulated. In other words, development is easier.

Europe has a wealth of observation data that can be used as public. In Germany, one of the successful countries with offshore winds, observations have been started by offshore -like masts in the 2000s. Moreover, the data is published for research, and it can be used not only in Germany, but also in Japanese people, as well as a certain process.

In Europe, where research and development has been promoted in the form of disclosure of data, I think that the hurdles to practical use were low.

On the other hand, there are few observation data in Japan in Japan. This is a big problem. No matter how much European technology is introduced, the development will not proceed unless the verification of "what happens in the Japanese sea?"

Currently, Relatech is participating in the "NEDO business" related to the offshore windshade survey method with Kobe University, but there is no publicly opened observation data there. You have to find a way to solve it.

Japan's offshore wind is about 20 years later and is about to take the first step in Europe.

SeeingOf course, this is also an issue for the whole industry. I would like to establish a system in which various places such as the government, the government, and the company provide data to provide data, leading to the spread of wind power. I want to consider what I can do as a Relatech for that.

If you want to raise the sea -wind technology in Asia someday

HaseIn the workshop, a power generation prediction competition was also held. This is a regular event that allows participants to predict the amount of power generation of operating wind firms.

There is a measured value of the wind and power generation, and it hides it and competes for who can get closer to that value. In other words, we compete for simulation skills.

SeeingSince the prediction method is different, you can verify and consider what results are used. By revealing the uncertainty that each method has, you can enhance your technology.

――Is Relatech thinking about participation in the future?

SeeingI agree. It would be interesting if you could try out how much your predictions fit in such a place.

HaseCurrently, many of this power generation prediction competition is only in Europe, so I hope it can be held in Asia. The introduction of the offshore wind farm is more ahead in Taiwan than in Japan.

I hope that if Asian countries can exchange information through such events and increase their knowledge with each other, we will be able to promote not only Japan but also Asian -style power generation.
