Hello, this is Kozuki from Rera Tech Inc.. At Rera Tech Inc., I am involved in wind analysis and observation.
The summer vacation season is over. Recently, I read "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Stand by Me" and thought back to how I wished I had had unforgettable experiences that helped me grow emotionally as a boy.

Well, the topic I'm going to introduce this time is,What is the wind condition?I hope this column will be a stepping stone to learning more about the wind observation and analysis industry.
Suddenly, let's say you receive the following question from a business owner who wants to build a wind turbine.
What kind of wind does it blow in this area?
If I had just become a weather forecaster, I would have proudly answered, "I know this area very well. The average annual southerly wind speed is about 6 m/s."
It is not easy to build a wind turbine. It takes a lot of money and a long time. Even after it is built, it will be operated for a long time. Therefore, business considerations are very important, and it is necessary to build it in an area where a stable amount of power generation can be expected.
When I ask "Which way will the wind blow?" I need to answer with information that will allow me to consider the risks and rewards. I'm sure no one would have listened to my answer back then.
Wind is one of the most difficult weather elements to grasp.

Wind has a somewhat unique aspect in meteorology. It is a meteorological element that is difficult to grasp in its actual form, quite different from other data such as temperature, humidity, precipitation, and solar radiation.
As you can see from flowers swaying in the wind, the wind sways frequently. Wind is a phenomenon in which air flows. The direction and strength of the wind changes dramatically, especially near the ground surface where there are many obstacles.
In addition, it is also important to consider how reliable the equipment used to observe "wind fluctuations" is. For example, what if the person conducting the traffic survey goes to the bathroom once (for 60 minutes) every 10 minutes? Or what if the person forgets to press the counter once every 30 times?
Similarly, observational instruments also have a certain degree of uncertainty, so the amount of observation is also an important factor.
So, what is the correct way to answer the question posed by the business owner who wants to set up a wind turbine? The answer is as follows.
"As a result of observing this area for a year, each wind speed in 0.5 m/s increments appears at 〇〇, and each wind speed has a ▼▼ disturbance. The wind direction is mainly ◆◆, but because there is a ridge in this direction, the wind energy amount is mainly ◇◇. The observation equipment was set to ●● using ■■, and the uncertainty is ××. It was in operation ◆◆% of the year. Data missing due to the influence of ☆☆ is supplemented with data from ◎◎, which has a ▽▽ relationship."
What do you think? It seems like he's explaining things really fast (laughs).
But don't worry. In reality, they use charts and tables to create reports that compile a huge amount of data, and they use those reports to provide explanations. Without thorough research, it is impossible to grasp the actual wind conditions in an area, so wind surveys are a painstaking and detailed task.

Wind conditions are the process of understanding wind conditions.
Wind conditions are the state and characteristics of the wind at a given time.
It is difficult because we are dealing with nature, which is constantly changing, but it is a field that has made steady progress up to now, and there is still room for development. Above all, I feel that it is a fun field that is connected to coexistence with the Earth, with elements that are familiar to us.
Rera Tech Inc. collaborates with various companies and players as a promoter of offshore wind power and wind condition observation. If you are interested in this field, which is expected to expand in the future, please feel free to contact Rera Tech Inc.. We welcome collaboration, consultations, and people who want to work for our company. We look forward to seeing many people participate.

As wind condition consultants, Rera Tech Inc. will carry out optimal wind condition surveys that combine "observation" and "estimation" for wind power generation.
